FRIT 7739 Technology Program Administrator
Element 5.3 Program Evaluation was the center of attention for this FRIT 7739 assignment. For the technology program administrator assignment, I spent quite a lot of time observing the happenings in the technology/media center, interviewing the media specialist, teachers, and students, and reviewing reports and the media center website. All of this was done in an attempt to have a good understanding of the operations and activities of the center. I learned that the media specialist has a lot of responsibilities, but that she has help and that is a good thing. The report contains an executive summary that is a quick summary of the data included in the report. The only concern I have about this project is the org chart. I really wanted to include a list of responsibilities within the chart but then doubted myself because I felt if would be too much so I included the responsibilities in the personnel description. Once the report was complete I created an infographic, using Canva, highlighting the operation for the month of October.

FRIT 7237: Evaluation Plan
In FRIT 7237, I worked with two other students to create an evaluation plan for professional learning. Element 5.3 Program Evaluation came into play for this assignment. The evaluation plan was designed to evaluate the quality and effectiveness of professional learning for the implementation of new a math curriculum. Again, this was a time when I thought that if you wanted to evaluate professional learning you just watch it and comment on it. I was a bit naive. I realize now that if you truly want to evaluate something, you must have a detailed plan that you stick to and evaluation documents that can be easily used.
FRIT 7739 Face-to-Face Instructional Design Unit
This FRIT 7739 project was one that I was happy to complete. Due to some issues with my district I was behind my personal schedule for getting this one completed. I was actually asked by the principal at a fine arts magnet school to facilitate professional learning that would give the teachers another tool to use in the classroom to engage the students using their personal devices. I was happy to oblige. After sending a technology use survey to the faculty, I decided the teachers would benefit from learning how to create and use interactive images. I created the design document using the Morrison, Ross, Kemp method and then prepared the presentation materials. The principal was very happy with this idea and notified the teachers to bring their laptops to the professional learning. It turn out that teachers are not always the best listeners so many teachers arrived without their laptops. That was ok though because there is also an app for Thinglink and they were still able to follow instruction. I felt instruction went well considering that the layout of the room is not conducive to facilitating professional learning. I received positive feedback, although I would have liked more teachers to have entered the link to their Thinklink images. I was excited when I was asked by the media specialist to come in a few days later to present to the AP Environmental Science class to show them how to use Thinglink to complete a project. Unfortunately, I had a conference scheduled during that time and was not able to teach the lesson. Element 5.1 Needs assessment was completed through conversations with the principal and a survey to the teachers. Element 5.2 Professional Learning is pretty obvious with this one since it is a professional learning instructional design. To improve this instruction I would hold the professional learning in classrooms with smaller groups. The media center just isn't conducive to professional learning. I would also incorporate the app into the PL a little bit better. When the teachers didn't bring their laptops, they used the app on their phones. My presentation should have included images from the app.
